Popular Questions

  • What styles of guitar music is there?

Classical, rock, jazz, pop, and flamenco are the most popular styles of guitar that we teach here at The Music Depot.

  • How is the bass different from a normal guitar?

The bass guitar is actually tuned like a guitar, but an octave lower and with only 4 strings rather than 6. It's as if you're playing a guitar with the first and second strings missing! This makes it easy for guitarists to switch over to studying bass and vice versa. Also, music for bass is notated on the bass clef, whereas the guitar is notated using the treble clef. If you've taken piano lessons, you'll be familiar with both the bass and treble clefs.

  • Do I need a guitar and amplifier to get started?

Not to get started! In fact, you can come to your first lesson with us empty-handed and we'll have everything you need for you or your student to get playing! Then, you can stop by our front desk and we'll email you our best recommendations for a guitar and practice amp or acoustic guitar once you are ready to make the investment at a low-cost entry point.

  • Do you offer virtual lessons?

Yes, we offer virtual and in studio lessons!
